Crawford Cares

As proud Crawfordians we believe in giving back. This is achieved through multiple projects across our 9 campuses. We believe that community and welfare involvement accentuates our students' awareness, compassion and empathy for others, and this in turn helps develop characteristics like responsibility, generosity, respect and honesty.

Crawford International La Lucia: Have a Heart, Give a Sole

As part of the Pre-Primary Outreach Programme for 2024, and to show love and friendship for the less fortunate, our parents and students generously donated preloved shoes for the Domino Foundation.

The Domino Foundation works with more than 50 ECD centres and schools within our community. They believe in collaborating with other organisations who are working towards trying to make a difference.

Crawford La Lucia would like to thank all our families for their support towards our “Have a Heart, Give a Sole” initiative!

Crawford International Lonehill: Husky Heaven Rescue

During a morning spent with the College Community Outreach team at Husky Heaven Rescue, Grade 8 student Kyla Meiring was inspired to take action for our furry friends. Determined to assist, she organized a donation of 400kg of pet food for the organisation. The Husky Heaven Rescue expressed delight as many of the rescues and puppies were in need of nourishment.

FORA (Friends of Rescued Animals)

We have started the year with a bang and have already visited FORA twice this year – Friends of Rescued Animals Our biggest challenge is always to socialise the animals – they are wary of humans as most of them have been abandoned. and abused by people who were supposed to look after them and care for them.

Our Crawfordians always take their challenge to attention every animal on site very seriously. FORA is an NPO and rely on any assistance they can get: food, money or cleaning agents.

Crawford International Sandton:

Sandwich-Making Drive

On Tuesday, 6 February and 12 March 2024, the Humanities Board hosted a sandwich-making drive for AAJs. 30 volunteers spread joy by making jam and peanut butter sandwiches. With effort and enthusiasm, we marked a successful event. Stay tuned for more compassionate initiatives throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who attended and who helped to make this a memorable event.

Crawford International Bedfordview: Chocolate Marshmallow Egg Collection

The Mini Council of Johannesburg annually collects chocolate marshmallow eggs to distribute to the less fortunate children in the greater Johannesburg area. Mohamed Sherif and Onalenna Nare, along with the assistance of Ms Leh, the Grade 7R teacher, challenged the students to collect a total of 5000 eggs.

Our Crawford International Bedfordview family certainly came to the party and generously donated 7820 eggs to this noble cause.

Charity work forms an important part of the Crawford International Calendar. The parents, staff and students understand the needs of so many challenged children and do not hesitate to participate in charity events.

Crawford International North Coast: Sharing the Love this Valentines

Our Grade 7 students embarked on a special mission this February. With Valentine's Day approaching, the Grade 7s decided to spread love and joy to the residents of Westbrook Retirement Village by bringing along sweet treats and heartfelt sentiments.

The joy on the faces of the elders was palpable and their spirits lifted by the genuine kindness of their young visitors. Our students engaged in heartfelt conversations with the residents, listening attentively to their stories and experiences, and learning valuable lessons about empathy, resilience, and the importance of cherishing every moment. The Grade 7 students' visit to Westbrook Retirement Village was more than just a charitable act.

It was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and community. Through this outreach programme and leadership initiative, our young leaders demonstrated the importance of empathy, kindness, and making a difference in the lives of others.
