SARAH-JANE BRANDON – POWER VOICE EXTRAORDINAIRE
Crawford College La Lucia
After graduating with distinction and her Masters in Advanced Vocal Performance from the Royal College of Music in London, Sarah-Jane has performed extensively across the globe. This talented young soprano won the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Competition in 2009, and was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth Rose Bowl for Exceptional Talent, which she received from HRH Price Charles.
Since then Sarah-Jane has appeared on world’s major stages in various productions, as well as walked away with additional awards that includes, the featured Young Artists at the 2011 Salzburg Festival, and most recently the Britain’s most coveted prize, among others.
Since winning Britain’s most coveted prize, Sarah-Jane, has established herself among the front rank of solo artists. In various reviews, Sarah-Jane has been described as, “gracefully regal”, as having “a vibrant warmth in her top notes”, as “a recitalist who coloured and weighed every phrase with fastidious authority”, “her voice at times a delicate thread, and at others deploying rafter-raising power”.
She has recently appeared as Contessa Le nozze di Figaro in a new production for the Dresden Semperoper, as well as for the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Finland, on tour for Aix En Provence Festival in Bahrain and at English National Opera in a production directed by Fiona Shaw. Sarah-Jane made her first foray into the Bel Canto repertoire as Giulietta / Capuleti e I Montecchi at the Buxton Festival in the Summer of 2016, and made her debut at the Teatro Real, Madrid in performances of Handel’s L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato for the Mark Morris Dance Group conducted by Jane Glover.
In recent seasons, Sarah-Jane operatic appearances have included Micäela Carmen for the Deutsche Oper, Berlin; Contessa Le nozze di Figaro for Glyndebourne, Opéra de Dijon and Nice; Erste Dame in Die Zauberfiöte for the Opéra de Desdemona Otello for Cape Town Opera.
She certainly is one of the globe’s finest young sopranos who commands the stage and mesmerizes her audience as few performers can.
It is with such great pleasure that Crawford College La Lucia will welcome Sarah-Jane to her home stage on the 19th of August, when she will perform in the annual Soiree.
